It’s that time of year again: the turkeys are ducking for cover, the elves are busy in Santa’s workshop, and the travel bloggers are busily populating the social media with posts about their favorite fundraiser, Passports with Purpose.

Each year, travel bloggers work together with travel brands to raise money and visibility for a charity doing good in the world. They blow up their social media streams with descriptions of all the exciting prizes that companies have donated to the fundraiser and that lucky donors have a chance at winning. We work hard to make sure that #PwP is trending every day of the fundraiser so that we can spread the word and raise lots of lots of money for the chosen charity.

And that’s where you come in.

Your role in Passports with Purpose is to donate money. And when you donate, you choose a prize that you would like to win. Each time you donate $10, you get a chance to win that prize. The full list of prizes is here.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Knok to offer a one-year membership (a $239 value) in their home exchange network for as many exchanges as you can find during the year. Click here for more information about membership.

We are excited about this year’s chosen charity, BuildOn, because we believe wholeheartedly in their mission to build schools and break the cycle of poverty in Mali. I think any of us would do whatever we could to eliminate poverty if only we knew what to do. Well, this is way for us to make a mark. Research shows there would be a 12% drop in global poverty if all students in low-income countries left school with basic reading skills. And buildOn is addressing that directly, by building schools in the Sikasso region of Mali, one of the poorest countries in the world. Even better: enrollment by girls is increasing each year and is now at 43% of the total enrollment.

We are lucky to live our lives confident in knowing that our children have access to quality education. Let’s help make that basic right become a reality for their brothers and sisters in Mali.

So what are you waiting for? Go donate and make more of this happen. And maybe win a prize while you’re at it!
