About

AllOvertheMap is lovingly handcrafted by Vero and Paige, as a way of assuaging their wanderlust between trips.

Veronique Autphenne was raised on three continents and has had a passion for travel ever since she can remember.  She has always preferred traveling “off the beaten path,” and, while her travel plans have changed slightly since she became the mother of three boys, she has found that traveling with children can be just as rewarding and enriching and is always an adventure.  Parenthood is a universally shared experience so traveling with children has allowed her to make different, and often deeper, connections with people of all ages.

Prior to parenthood, Veronique worked in public health communication in Washington, DC and Los Angeles.  She holds an M.A. from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication.

In her spare time, she is involved in local theater as an actor, producer, and stage mother, takes advantage of the DC area’s rich multicultural offerings, loves to cook for family and friends, and, of course, is always planning the next family trip.  She and her family have lived in Alexandria for the past ten years.

Paige Conner Totaro has a recurring dream about travelling the world with her husband and twin daughters until they find the perfect spot that combines water, warm weather, great art and music, good food, safety, diversity and openness.  She welcomes your suggestions.

Paige loves to help start new creative businesses, and was a founder of Misra Records.  She was a founding board member of Transformer in Washington, DC, and a longtime board member and director of Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts.  She plays repique with the all-women Brazilian samba-reggae percussion group Batala.

Ladies
This is such a great blog! Verona I met you briefly at the DC Travel & Adventure show. I was at the Maine booth representing the Maine Office of Tourism. I enjoyed reading about your experiences in the Bar Harbor area and your stop at Atlantic Brewing. Its partner restaurant Mainely Meat is one of our regular stops.

I’m a photographer and writer working in tourism raising a daughter and two Maine Coon cats with my husband near Bangor Maine. I’d love to offer some ideas about some quirky family side trips for your next Maine vacation.

Thanks for giving me your card and introducing me to your great blog.

Hello! My partner, Kelly, and I are friends with Shannon and have loved reading about your travels! We have been living in Taiwan for the past 3ish years exploring, getting lost, and teaching English. I noticed you are planning to come to our side of the world in May. Taiwan is a short flight from HK and we’d love to share our love for this beautiful country with your family! Enjoy your experience and let us know if you’re in town for a visit! -Sara

Thanks so much, Sara! I would love to come to Taiwan – it sounds really vibrant. I’ll email you directly.

We’ve just recently discovered your blog and think it’s great! We love walkabouts that help us explore our world in both big and small ways. There is so much to experience!

Our site, WalkaboutChronicles.com, is about the sharing of the journeys people take in their lives whether they be adventures of the highway, creative journeys, or tales of personal growth. Through this type of sharing, our readers are finding inspiration and connection.

We would like to share your journey with our readers, and in the process, bring more readership to your own site. To see how we are making this happen, we invite you to visit our project to see how other bloggers are delivering their messages.

LOVE this site!! It’s so much fun to find like-minded families! We’re in year four of an open ended world tour with our kids… cycling, driving, walking, by boat… whatever… moving slow, going deep, learning together! It’ll be great to keep up with your adventures too!
